No, I haven’t run out of ideas. At least, not yet. In reality, I had some of the most diverse and (in true Presswave fashion) “different” posts planned for this month. I had planned a collection of photos and accompanying notes early in the month called The Speechless Lyre, and had even written an entire post titled Afterimages that I was all but certain I’d be posting by today. In comparison, this piece–a one-take attempt at an Article–appears meddling. Against all odds, I find it to be quite the contrary.
I didn’t neglect publishing any number of the ideas I had purely out of content quality worries. It’s the themes. The same old themes. The themes I’ve repeated and repeated and repeated until exhaustion. ComicServer, cars, and–of course–time constantly covered and rehashed over the lifetime of this blog. Sometimes it’s on purpose, as is the case with How’s It Going to End? and I’ve Been Wondering That Myself Lately. But if you read Reflection and, subsequently What Could Happen?, you realize that the latter is an unabashedly unintentional sequel to the former. Out of pure “chance”.
I find myself in a position I’d last found myself in around this time last year: desperately trying to let go from writing about my websites. It worked. Starting last November with what I consider to be a landmark piece: Home of the Brash, Outrageous, and Free, I vowed to never address my websites as the main idea of any post. That action alone has spawned a few Articles I can safely say are some of my best work.
So while this post is a bore–and healthily unoriginal–I hope to accomplish something larger with it’s message. I hope to inspire myself to branch out of the three themes I have on speed-dial and set a new precedent for the standard of quality of Presswave posts. I hope to write something in October that puts this, Afterimages, and even Home of the Brash to shame. I hope to realize next month that Presswave’s 39th monthly consecutive post is anything but consecutive–in theme.
