We’ve written about ComicServer once before, but today we add a new (somewhat short) entry to talk about the newest addition to the Muncie series, Muncie 3.
Unlimited Slots
ComicServer has restricted users to eight comic slots and one custom slot for the longest time. With this update, though, things change. The service now gives unlimited comic and custom slots for Discord connected users, and the standard eight for guests (stored in cookie data). We use JavaScript arrays (stored in Replit Database, as our hosting platform is Replit) to store each comic you set in. Deleting an item deletes an element in the array, and adding one does exactly what it says.
Fun Fact: If you go to /get on the ComicServer website, you’ll see the aforementioned array.
Themeroller
The new theme maker tool (namely ‘Themeroller’) allows you to customize the background color, text color, and accent color of the website. Like the two other Muncie versions, the theme information is stored in cookie data because we believe that you should be able to customize themes between devices. We do still carry prebuilt themes, but have retired Birch and Blast because they don’t go with the Muncie aesthetic.
Fun Fact: If you open developer tools on your browser and go to the ‘Application’ or ‘Storage’ tab (depending on browser) all of the data stored in cookies (1 possible), local storage (14 possible), and session storage (1 possible) will be shown.
Personalization Menu
ComicServer’s new editing menu adds both the Themeroller and Slot Wizard for easy use. The Slot Wizard will guide you through the process of deleting or adding a slot, and the Themeroller will give you an easy way to edit elements of ComicServer.
Note: With the Themeroller, you can only edit one element at a time. With deletion of a slot, the slot numbers start at zero, not one.
