Indiana has always been the odd one when it comes to my favorite states. Many think of it as a boring, empty state. Even Indiana itself apparently thinks that way. They market themselves as “The Crossroads of America,” which even if it’s supposed to provide meaning to the state, in my opinion, it only taketh away.
ComicServer Muncie, the sixth version of the service, is a dedication to the city of Muncie, Indiana. I have always thought Muncie the perfect place to simply live life. No stressors of city living, and no isolation like you might find in a rural area. Somewhere to just sit on the front porch and read the comic strips in the Sunday newspaper. It’s truly the midwest’s Santa Fe. That’s a good thing in my books.
Columbus, Indiana, which is where the photo above was taken is the Mecca of mid-century architecture. I adore the style and feel of mid-century modern design, and it looks especially good in Columbus because of the town’s quasi-Suburbia characteristics.
Lastly, urban hub Indianapolis is the most accessible and populous place in Indiana. It’s like a particularly poppy song from a normally indie artist to lure people into their catalog. Indiana has a vast array of beautiful places, but most people will be reeled in by Indianapolis and maybe some will disperse across the state. I think that sentiment only makes the state more rich.
